The call for papers is still open (do you want to talk – register!) so we do not have a final schedule, but you will find our confirmed speakers on the web site as we grow the list. Right now, we know that have the pleasure to introduce:
– Lydia Pintscher, the product manager of Wikidata, Wikimedia’s knowledge base, as well as the president of KDE e.V.
– Lennart Poettering, from RedHat known for systemd, PulseAudio, Avahi and more.
– Jos Poortvliet, with a background from SUSE and KDE, he now heads marketing at Nextcloud.

Den 22/2 klockan 17 är det dags för nästa foss-gbg-möte. Vi bjuder in till en kväll med tre talare:
Tryggve Mathiesen from Xilinx introduces the tooling and possibilities of open source systems built on top of reconfigurable hardware. How to build a Linux configuration optimized for your hardware and how you can optimize your hardware to achieve high performance.
The team from Zifra will present their encryptable SD-card and wants to discuss how to share their technology with the community. They are looking for feedback of what to open and how.
Peter Andersson from BlackDuck will talk about their tooling to ensure that open source licenses are followed, tracking known vunerabilities across dependencies and their work in monitoring project healt. This includes a demo och the Black Duck Hub tool.
Kvällens värd är Ehive på Östra larmgatan 16 som även bjuder på enklare förtäring och dricka.

Sommaren börjar gå mot slutet vilket betyder att det äntligen är dags för foss-gbg att dra igång igen. Höstens första träff går av stapeln den 27/9 klockan 17. Då ska Mirza Krak från Host Mobility prata om hur man får Linux att snurra på ny hårdvara:
Hardware bring-up can be an exiting but painful journey, especially when you have a prototype software running on a prototype hardware. Nevertheless a rewarding journey. In my presentation I will talk about hardware/software ”team” relations. I will also present some of the tools that I use when debugging hardware to be able to pinpoint errors and determinate if they are software or hardware related. And finish of with some real-life examples of obscure problems that can occur when you work with hardware (”war stories from the trenches”).

I am a software engineer employed by Host Mobility AB with a passion for open-source. Active in the Linux kernel community and also a contributor.
At Host Mobility my responsibility’s are developing and maintaining software for our whole product range. That means everything from writing code for tiny micro-controllers in C and Assembler to Linux kernel hacking and board support package development, managing build-systems (openembbedded-core, buildroot, yocto) and u-boot development. I work closely with our hardware team in new hardware design and bring-up.

The presentation will start with a bit of European (space) microprocessor history up to the current day, cover Cobham Gaisler’s business model and the use of open source on both the hardware and software side. The presentation will also provide an introduction on how to use the GRLIB IP library to build your own open source SoC designs that contain a processor, peripheral IP and communication interfaces, and end with some observations on how the European space industry now approaches open source as part of publicly funded programs.
Cobham Gaisler is a fab-less microprocessor vendor located in Göteborg. The main product is the LEON3 SPARC V8 microprocessor that as part of the GRLIB IP library allows users to build complete system-on-chip (SoC) design. Since its creation the LEON3 processor has been freely available as an open source IP core.
Talare är Jan Andersson. Director of Engineering. Jan joined Gaisler in 2006. He has worked with the LEON4 SPARC processor design and the Next Generation Microprocessor (NGMP, GR740) development with ESA. His day-to-day
responsibilities include execution of Cobham Gaisler’s development roadmap with focus on the GRLIB IP library.

Den 17 Mars träffas vi igen för att lyssna till Patrik Gustavsson som talar om sitt git-verktyg birGit. Vi kommer även att prova på något nytt – lightning talks!
Patrik is a Senior Software Shaman @ Purple Scout – Specialist, Teacher and Developer in opensource software technologies.
birGit is an git tool that allows you to easily use the power of the command line in together with git. This softwares main focus is to bring down (multiline) long git commands to simple commands.
För alla som vill köra lightning talks, tänk ut ett ämne och registrera er på plats. Vi kör med klocka, så tio minuter för presentation och diskussion. Den 4/2 är ni alla välkomna till årets första träff. Den här gången kommer Jeena att prata om IndieWeb.
Don’t like Facebook owning and controlling your content? Use tools that support the open Web. In this talk Jeena will introduce you to the steadily growing IndieWeb community. It collects, creates and documents tools and protocols to liberate your data, while staying social.
Over the last 15 years Jeena has contributed to many open web projects. He wrote a popular blogging software, was very active in the biggest German web-developer community SELFHTML and developed a lot of software for different (open and closed) social networks. All while working as a web- and mobile-developer. Now he works with embedded systems, but distributed social networks are still something he is very passionate about.
